(Location) Luckily you get free transport in Basel if you stay in the city. Without this, I would say the location is a bit far away from the main city centre. For some if lost it takes 30 minutes to walk to the old town. The tram is quick and takes less than 10 minutes. The hotel is easy to find and you can see a big Adagio sign. The tram stop is still a 5 minute walk. Surroundings you can find supermarkets (minus Sunday) opened and restaurants. (Hotel) The hotel staff are very polite. You can pay for breakfast if you would like and they sell a few drinks etc for the room. You can grab a few fruit teas for free. As for the room. I would say it's a delight. The kitchen has pans, utensils, microwave oven with grill, electric induction hob, plates, cups, Nespresso (you have to buy your own capsules). I didn't see a kettle but I never used it as it was a hot day. There is a fridge too. As for the bed, it was comfortable. You have on each side plug sockets which is convenient. Cupboards to store your clothes. TV with plenty of channels but mainly foreign. Extendable table to eat but could have done with one more table. The bathroom was big and the shower was powerful. The bath tub was a bit mouldy on the edges though. (Anything else?) There's a gym in the basement. There is onsite parking. There are washing machines but you have to pay and get your own detergent which is normal.
Our 3 day trip in Basel concludes on more positives than nagging issues. First the good part: Staff such as Steven, Catia and Michael are worth mentioning as they did their best to accommodate our requests. In general the front office staff seems rather well trained and courteous. Secondly the location of this hotel is ideal. With access to train, tram and bus stations within a couple 100 metres is very convenient. Sound isolation and sleep quality are pretty decent. Rooms are modern and seem to ve renovated recently. Ample parking available in the basement. The best part is the entrance of the hotel is within the private space and does not hinder public traffic. So parking the vehicle to offload the luggage is practical. I feel one of the best designs of this hotel is to be able to manoeuvre your car and allow guests to be able to safely disembark. Breakfast is decent and very clean setup. No signs of hygiene issues. And now to the few nagging issues: First the over engineering of elevators and their use can ve confusing at first. Staff should take time to read any messages and requests done through third party booking platforms. Although requests were addressed promptly but could have avoided delays. Room temperature settings difficult to comprehend for kelvins to Celsius conversions. Also the room was quite warm and slightly unpleasant in the evening. Breakfast should consider some infant friendly options too. Value for money - a miss for sure. Overall I would say it was quite a pleasant experience but the management needs to step up on making it a value proposition.
I booked a double room at the B&B Hotel Basel at the last minute. The hotel is a bit far from the city center and the SBB Basel train station is about a 15-20 minute walk, I asked for a quiet room on the top floor because that is usually the quietest, but they gave me a room on the 2nd floor and I could hear the cars on the motorway and the trains. I went to the reception to ask for another room and they told me that was the only option they had. So I couldn't do anything except get some earplugs. In the end, the room was not so tidy, a lot of dust under the bed (I had to remove the dust from my earplugs that had fallen under the bed), but in good condition and the price a little more expensive than I expected. They didn't give me the Basel Card because I was only staying one night. They didn't provide any toiletries apart from shampoo, body wash and towels. You can leave your suitcase in a room that is not close, therefore it is important that you have a lock in your suitcase and a chain, they say that is safe but it is better to prevent.
訪訪客用戶The location is great, close to the Old Town and only minutes on foot from Barfuesserplatz. Parking at Steinen is also within relatively reasonable distance. The service was great and the staff very friendly. The rooms are modern, and what we especially appreciated were the separated shower and toilet, although we did miss additional opportunities to hang bath towels. Our room was to the front of the building and therefore somewhat noisy due to the proximity of the tram line, but I guess that's the caveat of such a central location. For breakfast there are two options: The full buffet breakfast at the Teufelhof across the street, or the coffee shop on the ground floor of the SET Hotel itself. We opted for the latter and loved their croissants. The corridors felt a bit bland, dark and ”hospital-like”, as my wife put it. A bit of colour would give it a somewhat friendlier touch. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and think it's an ideal place to stay for exploring the city.
