My husband booked the Hostal for 3 days before our flight home. It was described as suitable for people with disabilities. When we arrived the building was locked up with metal grail gates. My husband saw a button to press which required going up 2 fairly high metal steps. I couldnt have reached it. The gate at the top of the ramp was opened for us and we got our key. The lift was fine, there was a cleaner working (couldnt fault the hygiene). Not being able to speak Spainish I wasnt sure what she was trying to tell me but eventually she got an English translation sent to her which informed me that the ramp and lift were only available atcertain times of day (not between 9am and 2pm or after 10:30pm). We were not in a position to take up their offer to move elsewhere if that didnt suit. The bathroom was not disabled friendly, the toilet was behind the door with a large sink just in front of the door which restricted the gap available to get in. The toilet was unfortunately not fixed either at the floor or wall which led to a high degree of concern/worry when used, it rocked! My husband ended up spending his mornings alone as 9am was too early for me to be ready to go (pain was a bit higher than usual). When he came to collect me after 2pm the ramp/elevator were still unusable to exit the building. I had to find a member of the kitchen staff to let me out after showing my walking stick and indicating stairs were not going to work. The gate was locked behind me. My husband had access through a door where the bell was located, it allowed access to stairs but not to the elevator so if I could have him aid me down the two high steps outside I wouldnt have been fit for the stairs. It was almost like being held prisoner. As I could rely on the times we were given (they locked the ramp and elevator before my husband had even unloaded the car on arrival - 6pm), I wouldnt go out late in the evening in case I was locked out. I think if you have no physical disability and just want a cheap, clean and easily reached place to say it would be fine but dont believe the disability friendly rating. I felt like a prisoner at times, we missed out on a number of activities together. It was a disappointing end to our trip and my husband was so remorseful even though he couldnt have known based on the description given as accessible.
