Batad Rita's Mount View Inn and Restaurant

Cuando reservamos en Rita's no sabíamos la suerte que íbamos a tener, ¡LO MEJOR DE NUESTRO VIAJE POR FILIPINAS! Germaine (la hija de Rita y actual dueña del negocio) fue la mejor anfitriona que podíamos tener en esta aventura por la zona. Contactó con nosotros antes de llegar para poder ayudarnos con el transporte desde Cauayan hasta allí. Todo fueron facilidades y es de agradecer cuando estás viajando y cansado que alguien te cuide y se preocupe por ti así (más en esta zona no muy turística y sin muchas facilidades). Germaine nos ayudó a organizar la ida y la vuelta, así como un treñking por los Rice Terraces. Se preocupa mucho porqué la gente de la zona pueda repartir los beneficios que da el poco turismo que tienen. Todas sus recomendaciones fueron excelentes (incluso un restaurante en Banue). El sitio es tal como se describe (la foto del café es 100% real, juzguen). No esperes lujos, lo que hay es lo necesario; mosquiteras, mantas y servicio de restaurante que lleva la propia Germaine. ESO SÍ, EL AMBIENTE ES INMEJORABLE. Germaine y su familia son encantadores y te hacen sentir como en casa desde el primer momento. ATENCIÓN! La ubicación es perfecta si se llega con mochilas pesadas. La carretera no llega hasta el pueblo y hay que hacer el último tramo a pie. El "Rita's Inn" se encuentra en la parte más alta del pueblo, que es también la más cercana a la carretera. No lo sabíamos cuando hicimos la reserva y, aunque a la llegada es cuesta abajo, no sé como habríamos vuelto con las mochilas cuesta arriba si nos llegamos a quedar en los hostels de Batad más bajos (casi 1h de escaleras hacia arriba). Por supuesto que se puede contratar que te lleven las mochilas, pero no era nuestra intención en el viaje. Se trata de una zona muy montañosa y empinada. Si tenéis planeado un viaje a Filipinas, recomiendo 100% pasar por Batad. ¡Si tenéis claro que vais a pasar por Batad, recomiendo 100% quedarse en el Rita's Inn!

Nous avons passé un peu plus de 2 jour à Batad chez Roméo et sa fille Germaine. Nous avons adoré ce moment. Le lieu est magnifique ! Des personnes gentilles, accueillantes et souriantes ! Un vrai plaisir d’échanger avec eux. La vue est somptueuse. Tout y est simple, ils sont de bons conseils, on y mange très bien. Ils vous mettront en relation avec des guides locaux si vous en avez le besoin.

Rita’s Mount View Inn, overlooking the ancient rice terraces of Batad (a UNESCO World Heritage Site,) features one of the most stunning views in the world. Framed by giant bamboo and banana palms, the panorama from the dining patio is breathtaking, and alone is worth the trek to this remote mountain village. The innkeeper, Germaine (Rita’s daughter) is delightful, always laughing and smiling and quick to help in so many ways, from cooking up delicious pancakes for breakfast and chicken Adobo for dinner to arranging for the best local guides and trike transportation. With the help of Romeo, her father, who seems sent from central casting to play the part of the mountain sage, they keep the inn immaculately cleaned and welcoming. This is a very special place. It is also one of the closest accommodations to the Batad parking drop off area. You will be hiking some 25 minutes to get to Rita’s yet you will be very happy that you did not book further down the valley where you have to navigate the rough hewn staircases that are the hallmark of Batad. Just bring what you will need for a few days stay. Backpacks, not luggage. And steel yourself for one of the most adventurous hiking experience of your life. Note that the hike into the village is like a portal back in time. Everything in the valley has to carried in over this challenging terrain on the heads, shoulders and backs of the villagers. Everything. Every bottle, every building block, all foodstuff…everything. There are no extravagances. The accommodations throughout Batad are very modest with spartan rooms and common showers and manual toilets. Yet there appears to be a fierce pride in cleanliness, especially at Rita’s, and you are hard pressed to find a scrap of litter anywhere

Rita's Inn is an amazing experience. The view is absolutely brilliant and the place itself is great. The owners are a friendly family, who also cook for you. The accommodation is basic but has everything you need. The whole stay was so much fun. You get to see what life in the little town is like and it's a very peaceful place. I would have stayed there longer and I highly recommend the Inn to anyone who is looking for a great place to stay in Batad
