Terrible service received. We waited over an hour for breakfast and when it arrived, the food was cold. Over and above that the bill come inclusive of a service charge, regardless how terrible the service was. I will never recommend this place to anyone. The views are amazing though

Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und aufmerksam. Eine gründliche Wartung des ganzen Hotels wäre aus europäisch-pedantischer (?) Sicht angebracht. Spiegel im Bad bröckelt, Abdichtungen Dusche lösen sich, Farbe Badezimmermöbel blättert ab, Schiebetüre zur Terrasse klemmt, Zimmertüre lässt sich von innen nicht schliessen, Stühle am Pool sind auf der Unterseite schmutzig etc. Aber: Trotz dieser Mängel lohnt sich ein Besuch alleweil, denn das Positive überwiegt bei weitem - und die Lage ist einfach einzigartig.

Awesome views for the beach, very clean. Tight parking entrance....went there for the spa only. The massage was okay but the pedicure was a rushed job & they seemed to just want it over & done with. Initially had been denied the robes for the spa, allegedly bcz all the robes had gone for laundry but in the end they gave us robes...

Waren für die letzte Nacht unseres 4-Wochen Trips im Canelands. Auch aufgrund der Nähe zum Airport Durban (ca. 25km) hatte sich diese accomodation für uns angeboten. Lage: fantastisch direkt am Strand, über eine Holztreppe zu erreichen. ca. 100 m südlich ein grosser Tidal Pool. Der Strandabschnitt ist geprägt durch kleinere Boutiquehotels wie das Canelands sowie gehobene Ferienhäuser. Am Strand entsprechend entspanntes Klientel mit Hunden, Kids und Angeln, mehr Locals als ausländische Touristen. Hinter dem Canelands Optionen zum Essen und Trinken, kleine Shopping mall, hier alles easy zu Fuss möglich, macht sicheren Eindruck. Zimmer: wir hatten De Luxe Room 3 im 1. Stock. mit grosser Terrasse und herrlichem Strandblick. Front und Seite komplett verglast und vorne weit zu öffnen, Liegen und Stühle/Tisch, leider Ende Mai nur bis ca. 12:00 Sonne auf der Terrasse, also danach am besten Strandspaziergänge machen, da ist dann noch Sonne. Im Sommer ist das natürlich anders ;-). Geräumiges Bad (Bidet), Ankleidebereich, Kühlschrank, Safe. Sehr freundliche Atmosphäre, zurückgenommes, geschmackvolles Design. Es könnte ein klein wenig aufgefrischt werden, bei dem Meeresklima ist natürlich auch schnell Verschleiss sichtbar. Pool: langer Pool, sehr gut gewartet. Service: sehr zuvorkommendes, bemühtes und freundliches Team, hat uns den Aufenthalt zusätzlich angenehm gemacht. Frühstück: wie sehr oft während unseres SA Trips á la Carte, Qualität absolut top, mit diesem Seaview unschlagbar ;-) Restaurant: aufgrund der tollen Lage haben wir unser Dinner hier genommen, es war auch eine Geburtstagsgesellschaft zu Gast, natürlich für uns ein gutes Zeichen, dass locals hier zum Essen gehen. Wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Eine excellente Seafoodplatter und das Steak in gewohnt guter SA-Qualität, sehr schön und klasse garniert. Geschmacklich top und überdurchschnittlich, ganz klare Empfehlung für das Restaurant. Die Preise sind sehr fair, das Gesamtpaket ist Top !!! Gesamt Hotel: auch hier absolute Empfehlung, Zimmer 3 ist herrlich: Strand, Meeresrauschen & Sternenhimmel.

We made a booking for Canelands in January 2002. A week before the trip, Canelands cancelled my booking claiming a *********** system error and overbooking. This was not truthful, as we had confirmed dinner and other details in the 6 weeks leading up to the stay. I had also seen availability on their own system at time of booking. It turned out they accepted a wedding booking for the full establishment and sought to eject problematic bookings. They made feeble attempts to book us in at nearby hotels which we did not accept. Eventually, 2 days before our flights, they managed to secure a resolution by booking us in at Beverly Hills in Umhlanga at industry rates.

The rooms are simple and generally clean or as clean as the moist environment will allow. It is in need of a refit as the cupboards have started to blister. The location is superb, right on the beach and that just abut justifies the price. My biggest cause for complaint is that a 10% service charge is included in the restaurant bill, which I assumed would go to the staff and therefore did not tip only to later discover that this is not given to the staff as I expected and this seems disingenuous and deceitful. Add 10% to your prices, don’t lie to your customer.
