We stayed 3 nights at Gajah Biru in their Cinnamon room and found it a mixed experience. It’s a good location in a lovely garden of flowering plants with a pool and we’d wake to bird song. The staff were friendly and helpful and their family’s restaurant across the lane, Two Sisters, was quite good. The ceiling fan and ac both worked well which we were glad for. The problems we had are fixable and we shared them with the owner so hopefully they’ll be repaired for future guests. The thatch on the ceiling of the room sheds an unfortunate gritty dust that is particularly a problem above the bed. They have cardboard laid high above the bed between the 4 posters to catch most of it, but it doesn’t extend across all of the bed and we’d wake with sore throats from what fell during the night. Our sink had trouble draining and the shower was only a trickle, but we think the head just needs replaced. There were also quite a few bugs in the bathroom, but that’s not uncommon in Bali and there was a shy little toad who would come out at night to eat them. :) We also suggest that during such hot weather the hotel not put heavy European style duvets on the beds but just thin sheets. We give the grounds and staff a 5 and the shower and bed a 1. If repairs are made we would stay again, but we’d check the room first, and hopefully the other rooms don’t have these issues.
