Das Gleneagles Hotel ist eine Institution in Schottland. Von außen wirkt es riesig grau. Innen ist es natürlich auch riesig und man kann sich leicht verirren bei den vielen Gängen, Zimmern und Restaurants. Der Empfang wae sehr herzlich, das Zimmer eher mittelgroß, dafür mit vielen schönen Details.

My sister has just treated me and her to a few days away for her 60th and it filled all our expectations! The weather also helped as it was glorious even for October. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were all amazing and so friendly and helpful which made it all the more fun and special. Breakfast is just amazing with a plethora of delicious treats savoury and sweet you were totally spoiled for choice. We had an amazing upgrade and champagne in our room which was as an excellent surprise to start our few days . We went axe throwing which was fabulous and our tutor was excellent and encouraged us so we learned the skills to even have a mini competition!! Great fun was had as he was so patient with us. I happened to mention I wanted to get a haggis for my husband and straight away we were offered the chauffeur and he took us to the local butcher to get what we wanted!! Just wonderful service . A special trip made extra special by all the wonderful staff.

Not quite up there. The fact that his hotel now puts on a 12.5% surcharge on EVERYTHING became a real bug bear. When I say everything I mean EVERYTHING! I bought a massage for £215. As if that wasn’t expensive enough, they then added another £26 service charge. Also on every drink we bought they added this charge. It was ridiculous. Yes it’s discretionary but having to ask for it to be removed is not what I want to continuously keep doing my whole stay. The food in the Birnham, was ridiculously expensive- £70 for a 300g steak!! Breakfast we had to queue for every morning. The music system in the bar is really inadequate- it’s like a tin pot playing music, and I’m not sure who’s playlist they were playing but it was not suitable for after dinner drinks in a 5 star hotel! Who’s running this place? Teenagers? They were playing the worst 90:s music I’ve ever heard for after dinner drinks! They should be a piano or some sort of soothing music - not Madonna 80s best hits followed my 90:s rap music. Our room was adequate My room was a £800 a night room with a view over the air con units (see photos) I know not all rooms come with a view, I’m just stating for information purposes. There was no make up mirror at the dressing table. The only mirror was in the bathroom which made getting ready and drying my hair, really difficult. And had to use my iPad as a mirror to dry my hair. I expect much more for this price of room. Overall the staff were pleasant but it wasn’t worth the expense- expected much more to be honest. Also I came back with bites on my neck leg and stomach, don’t know if this was from the bed or just around the hotel but not great.

We had such a enjoyable time right from the moment we arrived until the day we left with the meals we had & go for a swim was nice & had a upgrade on our room having a good sleep & been looked after so well with the staff be friendly always asking if we are enjoying our stay

We stayed 2 nights to celebrate my 60th birthday. It’s been on a bucket list and it didn’t disappoint. Fabulous hotel with lovely rooms. Our room didn’t have an exterior grounds view, and better to have that if budget allows! I played one round of golf on the Kings course which was majestic. Surprisingly limited cost benefit on green fee if you are staying at the hotel but hey ho. Had nice meals at the Dormy restaurant one night (reasonably priced) and Strathern on the other. The food and service was excellent. Breakfast awesome. Great pre drinks at the Century bar near reception. A bit steep if you want glasses of fizz but that’s the deal. Overall the experience was top draw. Highly recommend the whole thing especially if you love your golf.
