卡拉馬山林小屋(Karama Lodge)

La peor experiencia de mi vida en un hotel Tanzano. El servicio ha sido pésimo. Dos horas y media para traernos la comida. No precios en el menú y luego comida carísima. Hemos pedido compensación por el servicio (dejando claro que pagabamos la comida) y nos han amenazado con llamar a la policia.

I cannot say enough about our stay with Karama. The lodge and grounds were amazing and surreal but what made it for me were the staff members. I felt so welcomed and inspired by their hospitality and generosity. Definitely come to Karama. If I’m in Arusha again, I will be back!

My stay at Karama was very enjoyable. The accommodation was comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was lovely and the meals are very generous. I had some washing done and the rates were very reasonable and returned to me the same day.

Great place to stay! All the staff are super friendly and can help with planning day trips. Food was amazing and the lodges were great to sleep in. Theres a great view of Mt Meru on a clear day and also a pool.

We were so looking forward to this stay after seeing the review and photos, however we had a very different experience. I’m unsure if the rooms vary based on new/old and our booking was done via our tour company but we stay in room 9 for reference. Whilst the room looked like the photos there were some big difference in the standard of reality vs online, for example: • there were no curtains on the windows in our room, which we didn’t realise until going to bed, so the light poured in at 6am. • the shower wall tiles / wall looked as though they were going to fall way from the side of villa and were in really poor condition. We also only had two bath towels in our room - no hand towel in the toilet area (separate to shower) or floor mat for the shower. • the reception staff was not very friendly (Flora) and after seeking confirmation we could do some washing with another staff member they could accommodate washing and filling out the form, we were then told it wasn’t possible in time for our departure. This would’ve been fine if the attitude of the staff member was a bit more accommodating. We’d just been hiking Kilimanjaro so we really needed washing done, but we wasted our time completing the form and going back and forth for confirmation re same. • they also charge a 5% card fee, which may be normal but this was the first time in a month in Africa this occurred - so cash handy may be better. I will say: • the lunch menu was small but the food was nice. • the facilities like pool etc looked lovely and the gardens surrounds were well maintained. The hotel is somewhat remote, for one night this was fine but the roads a bit rough up/down so it is a bit of a trek. the noise from the town - this can’t be helped and we stayed mid-week so it wasn’t that bad. Generally the town noise was finished by 10pm and the dogs stopped barking, but the prayer call at 5am does wake them again and you can hear all this from the room. More an issue if you’re a light sleeper but this is due to the hotel location and not the hotels fault. Unfortunately due to the negatives listed we wouldn’t recommend this hotel or stay again.

Nos alojamos nuestra primera noche en el Karama para empezar el safari. El hotel es normalito, las habitaciones no están mal. A nosotros nos hizo frio. Se nota que con el Covid han reducido servicios ya que no tenían cocina propia.

An absolutely beautiful hotel! It sits on top of a mountain side with these beautiful rooms that overlook the hills. The room was very comfortable and it had a great restaurant bar area as well as pool area and an incredible massage. The staff was spectacular. I want to give a special shout out to Farouk and Simon. They were incredibly welcoming and helpful with everything that we needed. Our stay would not have been the same without these two people. I highly recommend getting a massage while you’re there as it was one of the best I’ve had. I look forward to coming back one day, be sure to enjoy the friendly monkeys!

Very nice rustic cabins with comfortable beds and beautiful views. I found it relaxing and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was a perfect place to explore Arusha, as it’s close to downtown, yet far from the hustle and bustle of the city.

We had a nice stay for two nights at the lodge. Rustic and comfortable! Staff was very accommodating and helped us with any details that we needed. Breakfast and dinner were very good too. Beds were excellent! I highly recommend trying out Karama Lodge.
