We are not fussy travellers by any means, however I would not recommend or stay at this hotel again. The rooms are so old, no fridge the showers were terrible, the taps leaked, the cold tap didn’t work, the room we were given had no bedside tables. Rooms were humid, smelt musty. Black hair in my bed. Bedding creased and old. Fitted sheet didn’t fit the beds. Towels so rough and old need replacing. We had no spare toilet rolls in the bathroom. No attention to detail at all. It was old hostel standard at an expensive cost. It’s a $50 a night standard at a push. Breakfast were also very poor. Weak watery coffee, no option for barista made coffee or decent African coffee. The food was mainly only hot Indian food & only bread and omelette as an alternative option. Confusing given we are in Africa we expected more African options and catering for other nations with hot breakfast options. Dinner options was 95% Indian food again. Given you are stuck at night in your hotels due to safety a better variety of dinner food would be welcomed as we didn’t want to eat Indian two nights while travelling East Africa. Hotel guests were loud shouting and moving around on upper floors keeping us awake. After complaining more than once the staff did their best to assist but it was not a pleasant stay at all. We were then woken up at 6am by people ringing our room doorbell. The location is right amongst the local part of town so you cannot leave at night. You will be pounded on leaving your Safari jeeps or when being picked up (it’s fine but a heads up). I’d recommend staying by the clock tower as walking distance to massi market, and a great coffee shop for African food and good coffee (Coffee Culture).
