We've been staying at The Governor Calvert House for years. It's wonderfully located close to everything that Annapolis has to offer. It's clean and the staff is friendly and efficient. A number of years ago, the rooms were re-decorated. Maybe, by a vampire. The rooms are so dark and depressing - not at all warm and inviting. The wallpaper is black and white (mostly black), the furniture is all dark, the drapes are dark, and the carpeting is dark. The rooms, as I mentioned, are clean and the beds are comfortable, but the black really puts us off. It would be so nice to stay in a light, pretty, well-decorated, inviting room! And, yes, they're all that awful. So, by all means, stay there, but be prepared to deal with black, black, black.
I brought my son down for football camp at Naval Academy. This hotel was perfect for us. Check in was friendly and quick. Parking is $29 a night and conveniently located. There is a little store with snacks and drinks adjacent to the check in desk. There is also a small restaurant in the lobby for HH drinks and food and breakfast. The breakfast starts before 7 AM which was convenient for us. The room was comfortable and very clean. It had a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and safe. There was a fitness center right n our floor. There was an outdoor pool as well which we didn't use this time. We were able to walk to all the stores and restaurant on the water where we had dinner. We also walked to the Naval Academy (about a 20 minute walk, with all beautiful houses and nice stores to look at on the way). We will definitely stay here again.
