There are many tourist attractions near by that can either be reached by car, bus or train. The Moat House is an expansive house which has been recently renovated, with large rooms and a very high standard of disabled/wheelchair facilities. It is the ideal location to explore Dumfries & Galloway, The Lake District, The Scottish Borders, Hadrians Wall Country and beyond by rail/car.HistoryThis large (400m2) property is located on the moat bank of an ancient Mott and Bailey castle that was once the home of the de Brus family, the ancestors of "Robert the Bruce" who was featured in the film "Braveheart".
