Best budget friendly option at the classiest city square in Amsterdam. Polite staff, spartan but spacious room, decent amenities, very conveniently located, would totally recommend this for solo travellers as well as couples. They also have a reasonably priced late check-out option, and taxi service on demand.

Please do never go here !!!!!! I stayed for one night and left with my whole body covered in bed bugs bites which has now became serious and I need medical help to help the allergic infection from sleeping in that bed which was classes as the “luxury room” horrible experience I love Amsterdam and have been many times this is my worst ever experience they also charge 100 tax when you get there claim they refund it but haven’t received mine yet.

We are booked at City Hotel Rembrandt Square a few weeks from now. The hotel has no elevator/lift, which we understood at the time of booking. Our son broke his leg this past weekend playing baseball and had to have a plate and screws inserted, so he will be in a wheelchair and on crutches for the next 6-8 weeks. We would like to continue with our plans to stay in Amsterdam, but of course he cannot navigate 3 flights of stairs on crutches (our room is on the 3rd floor). Our room is non-refundable, but the hotel appears to be completely booked during that time, and we've communicated with City Hotel asking that they please work with us because of the extenuating circumstances. They would easily be able to re-sell the room, but they are instead saying he will not be able to navigate the stairs (they will not assist either), that we should not stay with them, and that they will no refund us. I would avoid making any reservation with them whatsoever. We have asked multiple times, called, etc, but they will not budge. Their handling of this situation tells you everything you need to know about how ownership runs this hotel.

I was hesitating between giving the hotel 2 or 3 stars. Location is great, right next to the Rembrandtplein. The hotel is an older house, not suited for disabled people as you have to like stairs (my room was on the fifth floor). Rooms are small and furniture is quite run-down, but ok I can live with that. However, the tiny bathroom really needs a make-over: the bathroom window was rotten and window sill as well as the shower curtain had a lot of mold (see picture), which is not acceptable for a hotel. Also, the shampoo bottle in the shower was empty (shouldn't be that hard to check and refill when needed), and the TV remote did not work (and has a missing back cover). Fortunately, I was able to sleep with open windows as my room was overlooking the back side of the building, i.e. the quiet side. Breakfast is quite minimal (just some bread, muffins, yoghurt, hard boiled eggs, juice, coffee, tea and some cheese and jam) but enough to get the day started. Staff is available 24 hours per day. It's ok to spend 1 night as a business traveler but based on my room, I wouldn't take my wife and kids there for a city trip. If the bathroom had been taken care of, I would have given it more stars but cleanliness is important to me and the bathroom did not invite to take a shower there.

Listed as a family friendly hotel…it’s a hostel! Old and dirty, no lift so you have to carry your luggage up flights of stairs to a room that resembles a prison cell. You then have to share the facilities with other guests. The staff and manager are not interested in any complaints, they are just happy to take your money (which is overpriced for the accommodation) then take a deposit from you. You are required to leave your key there every time you leave the hotel, so you risk someone going in your room and through your possessions each time you go out. I would definitely avoid this place! Awful!
