Bailiffgate飯店

Goed ligging. Nieuw hotel! Beperkt ontbijt. Kamers hebben geen airco maar een ventilator-het was 29gr. Kast viel uit elkaar. Geen warm water om te douchen. Een van de gasten was gevallen en de verbanddoos had zelf geen band aid! Ongelofelijk hoe amateuristisch ze zijn gestart!

We had a meal in the restaurant; burger and pulled brisket hash with treacle tart to finish. Staff were friendly but seemed slightly pre occupied with something else. The burger Pattie itself was quite rubbery but all its accompaniments tasted very nice. The pulled brisket was very tasty as was the hash brown and the crispy egg although the egg was very heavily seasoned. The treacle tart was very tasty as was the lemon curd although I think the chef forgot to add the lime to the sorbet as it just tasted like sugar syrup. But overall the dining room was very nicely decorated with the castle views.

The hotel is beautiful, a very well thought out restoration, and the staff are all lovely. We stayed in a double castle view room for one night while we visited the castle and surrounding areas, the room, along with the rest of the hotel, was stunning, clearly no expense has been spared during the build and renovation. We had a direct view of the castle and the room was very quiet, unfortunately it was also very warm, there seemed to be no way to turn the heating down/put air con on, just a small box that allowed you to activate the heating for certain time periods. I was also surprised about the lack of a coffee machine, given the 5* rating of the hotel, I didn’t expect a kettle and instant coffee. We also had just one still and one sparking water in the fridge and a small pack of shortbread biscuits, it would have been nice to have more of a choice. I woke extremely early in the morning and wanted to have a shower, I couldn’t get any hot water until after 6am, not sure why. Moving on to the food, unfortunately we were unable to eat here on the Saturday evening, there was no food service at all until 7.45pm; this was too late for us. There was a private event on, and whilst I understand this, I feel there should have been provision for the guests during this period. We did go for breakfast in the restaurant before checking out, I was looking forward to Eggs Royale, but there was no smoked salmon. To summarise; the hotel is beautiful and you can tell that it has cost a significant amount to renovate, but the small details need a little work given the price point of the rooms.

From the moment we arrived we were blown away. Not only is it a fantastic renovation of the old school, but how they have combined the new building is fantastic. From a bedroom perspective, we had a junior suite with the most spectacular view over Alnwick castle. A stunning room with the most comfortable bed, amazing toiletries and Apple TV to keep you entertained. The food in the Motte and Bailey was also a wonderful experience, such attentive service lead by the fantastic Karen Clyde with well presented and with superbly flavoured food. A complete delight. So in summary, this is a wonderful addition to the hospitality industry and absolute delight to visit whilst in Alnwick

This is a beautifully presented new hotel. The room was stylish and very comfortable. We were in a two bed apartment and it was ideal for us. The room was well equipped and we wanted for nothing. Reception and bar staff were great. Two things marred our stay. Firstly the service in the restaurant was abysmal. Starter came out quite quickly but we then had to wait 45 mins for our main course. It was dried out and barely hot. It had obviously been left on the pass for some time. Another couple who sat down after us had finished dessert before we got our main. The other gripe was our bedroom. It was in a basement area with no window but a light well. The blind only came down 3/4 of the way down the window which meant we were woken up early in the morning by the daylight streaming in. Oh, and the bathroom flooded when anyone showered. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay, but it had flaws

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Bailiffgate hotel. Receptionist at check-in was friendly and efficient. Although no problem for us, the car park has quite a few steps but we believe the concierge will park your car. Sam brought our luggage to room 211 and kindly explained the amenities in the room. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious with luxury bedding. Likewise the bathroom, containing Jo Loves toiletries, 2 sinks, plush towels, bathrobes and slippers. The view of the Alnwick castle from our room was wonderful. We were extremely happy with everything in the room apart from storage space which was inadequate for a 5 night stay, fine if you’re staying for 1 or 2 nights. I suggested to reception that for longer stay guests a portable hanging rail would be appreciated. She thanked me for my suggestion and said it would be passed on. The attention to detail of the interior design of the hotel is exceptional with beautiful paintings, chest of drawers, comfortable lounge chairs and stunning lighting. There is also nice courtyard to sit and relax with a glass of wine Apart from one morning at breakfast, service was efficient and attentive. Food at breakfast and dinner in the Motte & Bailey restaurant was delicious and beautifully presented. I particularly enjoyed the lamb. Location of the hotel in the Georgian quarter is close to the centre of Alnwick and perfect for touring the many attractions of Northumberland we visited each day
