"We are fans of the HI youth hostel chain, and this location lived up to our expectations as well. Value priced, public areas very nice, rooms are naturally furnished basic. Perfect air conditioner and water pressure too. I assume the place was renovated in recent years because virtually everything looks new and well maintained. Reasonable Israeli hotel breakfast spread means you are full leaving to tour around. We were not around for the lunch or supper meals. We decided to visit the Rashbi cave, ancient synagogue, and city centre by foot there and back. This was itself a challenging uphill and then downhill hike but slowly but surely, we all made it even the four year old on foot. Pekiin is located on a hillside so the roads are windy and hilly, use Waze or GPS to navigate. There is a small adjacent parking lot, but parking on the street out front seemed adequate even at full vacancy."

"You can look at my profile--you'll see that I tend to be a critical reviewer. My hobby is fixing up houses, so I notice things that many people overlook. Israeli hotels, even the top ones, have problems with quality control--a swivel mirror doesn't swivel, the sticker from the hair dryer that still has ancient glue stuck on it, the caulk in the bathroom that was white a some time ago. Little things, lots of them. But this place? Can there really be perfection in a hotel? In Israel of all places?! This place belongs in Denmark or Finland or in some Platonic eidos of pure forms. Its quality is unmatched. Seriously. The tiniest details are tended to: tasteful fixtures, a balcony perfectly equipped with high-quality matching table and chairs, plush towels, a breakfast to die for, and people at the front desk who go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and easy. I could go on. When I read the other reviews, I said, yeah, sure. I'll find something not to like. I was wrong. Really. I've never stayed in a hotel in Israel that cares as much about quality as Erna Shtarkman. Bravo!"

" We ordered 2 appartaments and 1 room. The towels were not changed,the rooms were not cleaned The outdoor furnitures were in very bad condition The Pool area was not clean,full of garbage flying around. We asked the resaption 3 times for towels,and at last went to take them our self .We had to ask for toilet paper at last we went to get it"
