This is a hunting facility. Trip advisor should not be supporting this. They hunting jackal, warthog, baboons And many animals. This is not an ethical place. It is mostly aimed at international visitors who pay in dollars and come to our country to hunt our animals.

Samara is different from anywhere on earth, a story of passion, vision and hope and truly a pioneer in wildlife conservation, land preservation and community outreach. Not only the story, but the experience as well - the hospitality team are wonderful and welcoming, the food delicious and cooked with love, the guides are knowledgeable and charming hosts. We really had the most wonderful stay - thank you to the whole Samara team and family.

Samara delivered an incredible game viewing and accommodation experience in the heart of Great Karoo. The hospitality, food and staff were brilliant. Our Ranger and tracker were incredibly knowledgable and shared their knowledge of the abundant flora and fauna. The game drives took us across a range of environments and we saw a wide range of game. The highlight was the cheetah and her 5 cubs and above all the very newly born baby elephant surrounded by the protective elephant midwives. The lodge we stayed in was very well equipped and comfortable and the hot drawn bath was very welcome after a day full of game drives. We hope to return to find the elusive Aardvark.

Huge privilege to see game so close up. Mzi was a fantastic guide and very knowledgeable about the ecosystem that he has been entrusted with. Tracker AJ was just as good in tracking the game so that we had the best opportunity to see all the game that Samara has on the game reserve. They both took really good care of us, especially my elderly mom and my diabetic sister. The restaurant and kitchen staff as well the staff that work behind the scenes to make sure guests have an experience to last a lifetime also deserve our accolades as we could not have asked for better service. Thank you Samara. We will be back.

Once again I was treated like family coming home. Hospitality of the highest standard. Food delicious, and all game drives informative and super professional. It is time to return with all my children.

We stayed for all four days in the tented camp which has four double tents and a dining/ seating tent. The tents are comfortable with proper loos and bucket showers. They have wonderful views across the reserve. Their sturdiness was tested on our second night when it rained stair rods followed by hail and winds gusting up to 100 kph. Despite this all was well and we remained dry. The game is excellent. The most exciting was the three cheetah sightings, when we were able to leave the vehicle and walk within 20 m. The reserve only has animals that are naturally indigenous to the Karoo. Our only disappointment was the comparative lack of particularly small birds, due, we were told, to baboons eating their eggs. Our guide Rulof and tracker Kevin were both first class. All in all the great stay.
