What is Social Enterprise – Tuesday 8th July, 11:00 – 12:30
Have you ever found yourself thinking that it would be great to be able to combine making a living with doing something to benefit other people?
Ever had that itch to strike out yourself and be in control of your working life?
If so, then being a social entrepreneur may be something for you!
This session gives an introduction to the concept of social enterprise and what makes it different from private sector business on the one hand, and charities on the other. You’ll learn about some of the specific legal structures available for social enterprises and where you can go to get help starting your own social enterprise.
Come along and find out if social enterprise could be something for you!
Led by Simon Winspear (SCVS). Simon works as a development officer supporting third sector organisations with governance and funding, including the formation of new organisations. He is particularly passionate about promoting the contribution that social enterprises can make to local communities and the wider society.
