Welcome to Southern Research Biotech Academy Week 1!
Welcome to Biotech Academy, a transformative weeklong summer program tailored for 10th-12th grade students ready to immerse themselves in the world of biotechnology. Throughout the week, participants will engage in a series of hands-on activities designed to equip them with essential skills for success in this rapidly advancing field.
From mastering the intricacies of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to unraveling the mysteries of gel electrophoresis, students will dive deep into the fundamental techniques of biotechnology. They’ll experience the thrill of DNA extraction firsthand, unlocking the genetic secrets hidden within biological samples. Additionally, through culturing bacteria, participants will gain insight into the vital role microorganisms play in biotechnological applications.
But Biotech Academy offers more than just laboratory experiments. Participants will also benefit from personalized mentoring provided by undergraduate students, gaining valuable insights and guidance from those already immersed in the field. Moreover, they’ll have the opportunity to explore potential career paths through exposure to professionals actively shaping the biotechnology landscape.

CAMP DATES
Week 1: June 23-27
Week 2: July 7-11
Week 3: July 14-18
LOCATION
UAB Chemistry Building, 901 14th St S, Birmingham, AL 35205
ELIGIBILITY
Students must be graduating seniors, or rising 10th-, 11th- or 12th-grade students.
COST
The registration fee for Biotech Academy is $50. This helps cover the cost of activity materials & supplies, lunch, and a t-shirt. Refunds are available for cancellations no less than two weeks before your scheduled week of Biotech Academy. No refunds will be issued for no-shows or cancellations after June 23rd, 2025.
DEADLINE
Registration for Biotech Academy will close on May 12, 2025, or when all spots are filled, whichever comes first. There will be a waitlist for each of the 4 weeks.

我們進行了一次專門的旅行並度過了愉快的幾個小時。錯層有很多值得一看的地方，可以讓你保持興趣。企鵝很好，章魚也出現了，我們很想看到更多的水獺。我的孫女很喜歡這一切，隧道裡的烏龜很漂亮。它很乾淨，我們度過了一段愉快的時光，肯定會回去，工作人員很樂於助人，
它真的很不錯，值得一次又一次地參觀。

對於一個較小的城鎮,藝術博物館也很棒。我們真的很喜歡我們的訪問,如果你要去伯明翰,我們會推薦它。一定要提前打電話看看它們是否開放。

維多利亞廣場

放飞自我去游玩

我們去酒店放下行李后，去吃了一頓米其林一星餐館的大餐，然後開始認識這座城市。首先我們來到了維多利亞廣場，一座仿希臘神廟的建築很吸引眼球，這居然是他們的市政廳，它邊上一座漂亮的巴洛克建築是伯明翰博物館和美術館，也可以免費参觀，於是進去小逛了一下，人不多，展品還是挺豐富的，從古埃及的到現在藝術品，都有展出。

有中超，酒樓，還有很多其他特色餐廳選擇。在這裏不難找到想吃的東西。不過今次選了這間酒樓，食物有點令人失望。
