We are excited to partner with Hume Swim School and Life Saving Victoria (LSV) to conduct Pool Lifeguard Training. There will be an information night on Tuesday 3 June 2025 from 4.30pm - 5.30pm to outline the expectations for this course at Craigieburn. There will be an information night on Tuesday 10 June 2025 from 4.30pm - 5.30pm to outline the expectations for this course at Sunbury Aquatic Centre. Pool Lifeguard Training will happen on Thursday 10 July - Friday 11 July 2025 from 9am - 5pm. *Please note, this is a 2 day course! The course focus includes pool surveillance, scanning techniques, rescue skills, oxygen resuscitation and emergency care. This course requires a prerequisite unit of HLTAID011 Provide First Aid. Life Saving Victoria will be facilitating a First Aid Course on Monday 7 July 2025. Successful completion of this course will result in the award of: SISSS00133 Pool LifeguardSISCAQU019 Supervise patron safety in aquatic locationsSISCAQU020 Perform water rescuesSISCAQU021 Perform complex water rescuesSISCAQU022 Provide oxygen resuscitation and therapy in an aquatic environmentSISCAQU026 Teach swimming strokesMore information about this course can be found on, Pool Lifeguard Training Courses - Life Saving Victoria. This course will be facilitated by Life Saving Victoria. 📍 Location will be Broadmeadows Aquatic & Leisure Centre ➡️ This course is online + 8 hour face to face + on the job. ➡️ Approx 14 hours of e-learning must be completed before physical training. ➡️ This course will only be open to young people 16 - 24. ➡️ Course will be faciltated on Thursday 10 July - Friday 11 July 2025 from 9am - 5pm. The physical requirements for Pool Lifeguard course are: ✅ Demonstrate resuscitation including use of bag valve mask ✅ 100m warm up swim - not assessed or timed ✅ 10m swim then 10m non-contact tow including one person patient extraction ✅ 10m swim then 10m contact tow including two person patient extraction ✅ Rescue scenario of conscious swimmer including First Aid ✅ 25m swim - retrieve object from bottom of pool - 25m contact tow of unconscious patient ✅ Demonstrate Spinal extraction techniques Please read the above physical requirements carefully before enrolling!
