The John Holmes Trail Run, set to take place on Saturday, October 5, 2024, in Brooksville, FL, has been rescheduled due to Hurricane Ian. This event, held at the beautiful Croom Trails within the Withlacoochee State Forest's Croom Park, is the Southeast's oldest trail run, boasting a rich 31-year history. Renamed in honor of the founder, John Holmes, this race offers a picturesque course through long leaf pines, scrub oak covered hills, creek bottoms, and cypress ponds, earning recognition from the World Wildlife Fund as one of the 10 Coolest Places in North America.

Participants can choose from three distances - 50K, 16 Mile, and 9 Mile - with a limit of 250 runners. To secure a spot, early registration is recommended. The racecourse features multiple water stops and aid stations strategically placed along the loops to keep runners hydrated and supported. Pre-race packet pickup is available the evening before the race from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, as well as on the race day morning.
