Discover the fundamentals of illustration and adornment on ceramic with the ancient Italian technique of sgraffito at the Illustration in Clay event. This class offers a unique opportunity for artists of all levels to explore the exciting possibilities of surface design on clay. Led by Alchemy staff member Cozette Ellis, participants will learn the basics of sgraffito and create beautiful motifs and patterns to enhance their ceramic pieces. The class also provides the chance to experiment with human figures, adding a personal touch to your artwork.

Whether you are an experienced ceramicist looking to expand your repertoire or new to working with clay, this class is designed to accommodate all skill levels. It will be held in the clay studio located in the main art building on the AAC campus in Friday Harbor, WA. The event details, including directions and parking information, will be provided in your confirmation email upon registration.

To ensure the class meets its minimum requirements, early registration is encouraged. By registering at least three weeks in advance, you can take advantage of a 20% early bird discount applied automatically at checkout. We are committed to making our classes accessible to all community members, which is why we offer sliding scale tickets. This allows you to choose from three price tiers based on your ability to pay. Sustaining tickets help us sustain our programming, while full price tickets cover the costs associated with running the class. For individuals facing financial hardships, there are accessibility tickets available at a reduced price.
