Discover the spaces and places of St. Boniface, home of the largest Francophone community in Western Canada! Starting at Saint Boniface Cathedral and ending at Kilter Brewing Co., this walk will cover a brief history of some of the area's iconic landmarks and hidden treasures, and uncover the many ways in which you can explore and enjoy Francophone culture this summer. Along the way, we'll see how progress has been made in making St. Boniface a more walkable/bike-able neighbourhood, and where opportunities remain. If you're interested in history, arts & culture, and urban planning (and maybe a beer at the end - you're welcome to stick around at Kilter afterwards!), this walk is for you!
STOPS INCLUDE
: Saint Boniface Cathedral, Le Musée de Saint-Boniface Museum, Joseph Royal Park, Old St. Boniface City Hall, Provencher Park, Centre culturel franco-manitobain, Maison Gabrielle-Roy, Kilter Brewing Co.
Meeting Place
Walk will start at the north side entrance of Saint Boniface Cathedral (facing De La Cathedrale Ave). The walk leader will be wearing bold, brightly patterned clothing (top and/or bottoms).
Accessibility
The walk will start and end at different locations - it is a 15 minute walk back to the starting point (Saint Boniface Cathedral). Parts of the tour will take place on Tache Ave and Provencher Blvd, which can be noisy at times from the vehicle traffic. Tour will be presented in English, with French translation available/la visite sera présentée en anglais, avec traduction en français disponible.
