Clean Up the Hood + Ryan Harris Tribute | June 28
Join us for a powerful day of purpose, unity, and community pride! We’re taking over the streets of Englewood from 10AM–2PM to clean up our blocks—from 66th & Green to 64th & Stewart and all the blocks in between —and we need YOU to help us make a real impact.
Expect good vibes, group leads guiding teams, music to keep the energy up, snacks to fuel the movement, and a chance to earn community service hours (perfect for students)!
Then from 2PM–4PM, we’ll head to Ryan Harris Park for a heartfelt tribute to Ryan Harris, the 11-year-old girl whose life still inspires our mission. We’ll have performances, refreshments, and a slideshow presentation to honor her and uplift her memory.
What to bring or donate: black trash bags, gloves (all sizes), face masks, water bottles, hand sanitizer.
Donation drop-off spots: Family Dollar at 66th & Halsted OR Englewood Center, Room 217.

					 Requirements for Leads 
Leads
 (Age 25+):
Role
: 
Leads will guide cleanup groups throughout designated areas, ensuring that everyone stays on track, has the necessary supplies, and is safe. They will help manage groups, assist with the coordination of the cleanup, and report progress to the board members. Leads are expected to assist with promotions leading up to the event and provide support on the day of the cleanup.
Requirements:
Must be 25 years or older
Must be able to verify volunteers under 17
Leads must meet with board members prior to the event for briefing and preparation
Must have the ability to supervise a group and ensure safety and efficiency during the cleanup
Must be responsible and reliable

Role
Volunteers will assist with the cleanup efforts by picking up trash, organizing supplies, and supporting the cleanup team. Volunteers will be grouped based on the lead’s direction and will assist with their assigned areas.
Requirements:
Children under 10 must be supervised by an adult at all times
Children 11-17 must have a signed consent form from a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian must be present at drop-off to sign the consent form, but they do not need to stay for the entire event. However, the child must be picked up at 4:00 PM (or by 3:30 PM at the latest).
Volunteers 18 and older must provide verification ID.
If you’re bringing a child, please ensure you pick up your child at Ryan Harris Park by 4:00 PM.
Important Notes for All Participants

This is a community-driven event, and we’re looking for hands-on helpers who are excited about giving back.
We will provide supplies for the cleanup (trash bags, gloves, etc.), but you are welcome to bring your own.
This is a family-friendly event! We welcome all ages, but please ensure children under 17 are supervised and have the proper paperwork.

We’re currently accepting donations to help us give back to our community in a major way during our “Clean Up The Hood” event in Englewood on June 28th! Our goal is to not only clean our neighborhood, but also create meaningful moments by providing food, drinks, activities, and supplies for everyone involved—especially our youth!
We’re raising funds to help cover:
Meals & refreshments for over 200 participants
Cleaning supplies 
Water bottles
Community activities like yoga, arts & crafts, sports, journaling, and more
Hiring a DJ to bring energy and good vibes to the event
Sending 10–20 kids to Chicago Park District programs this summer
