We can't wait to welcome Heather Parry to the shop to discussion her claustrophobic, captivating new novel CARRION CROW,about a young woman locked away in the attic to preserve her family's name. Marguerite Périgord is locked in the attic of her family home, a towering Chelsea house overlooking the stinking Thames. Her mother is concerned that Marguerite's engagement to a much older, near-penniless solicitor, will drag the family name into disrepute and this simply won't do. For company Marguerite has a sewing machine, Mrs Beeton's Book of Household Management and a carrion crow who has come to nest in the rafters. Restless, she spends her waning energies on the fascinations of her own body, memorising Mrs Beeton's advice and longing for her life outside. As Marguerite's patience turns into rage, the boundaries of her mind and body start to fray.  Probably one of the best books I've read this year! It felt like an unholy mix of Ottessa Moshfegh and Leonora Carrington, whilst still being very much its own thing … I loved it  - Julia Armfield, author of Private Rites and Our Wives Under The Sea About the author: Heather Parry is a Glasgow-based writer and editor, originally from South Yorkshire. Her debut novel, Orpheus Builds a Girl, was shortlisted for the Saltire Society Fiction Book of the Year Award and longlisted for the Polari First Book Prize. She is also the author of a short story collection, This Is My Body, Given For You, and her first nonfiction book, Electric Dreams: On Sex Robots and the Failed Promises of Capitalism, was released in 2024 as part of 404 Ink’s Inklings series. 牛津大學博多利圖書館(Bodleian Library - University of Oxford)是牛津大學的總圖書館，是歐洲最古老的圖書館之一（1602年開放），也是英國規模僅次於大英圖書館的第二大圖書館。這裡是英國的6個法定圖書館之一。所有的牛津出版品在出版時都會自動送一份到此珍藏。圖書館下設有眾多分館，其中Radcliffe Camera分館己經成為牛津大學的重要地標，有很多圖書在這裡存放，不是牛津大學的學生也可入內参觀。博多利圖書館由一組不同歷史時期、不同風格的建築群構成，據說各樓之間有地下通道連接。
