Tapotupotu Beach

Picnic spot near Cape Reinga and Giant Sand dunes, 90 mile beach.

A delightful picnic location with a few shady trees and picnic tables and benches. Looks like there are camping sites - the beach is small but scenic. Interesting unsealed road to access it.

Stunning but don’t expect to camp in peak times

The beach is gorgeous!!!! Surf or swim suitable. We went on 29/12 and gates to camp were closed. Looked like locals fill the spots and were hand picking who they let through frankly but it was fine....

My happy place

I hadn't been to Tapotupotu for 31 years and it's as beautiful as I remember. A very special place. The beach has white sand with a well presented DOC camping area. I can't wait to go again
